63% of international students rely on personal or family support to fund their education in the US. 🙂
As many as a staggering 63% of international students have to seek family or personal support in order to fund their direct educational expenses in the United States! Reason being that such students are not eligible for the US federal or state government financial support, and also have to pay much higher tuition fees as compared to the American students. As a Pakistani student planning to study abroad, what I have personally seen repeatedly is that the universities’ fees are in foreign currency i.e., US Dollars, which, when converted to the international student’s home country’s currency, usually end up being much higher than they appear in Dollars due to the difference in currency. This is a major reason why students from abroad have their monetary needs shot up drastically, as they have to first arrange the fees’ money in their home currencies before converting it into US Dollars. Therefore, no less than 63% of the total international students attending US higher educational institutions have to finance their education from personal savings or family resources.

[…] “This is the first time I have visited this website and I am completely impressed by the post in the link below. It dawns on me about things I have to do when it’s time for me to pay back the loan which enables me to study abroad. I have harbored the dream of learning in other countries especially European ones for a long time. However, I find it hard to get 100% scholarship, which makes my hope somehow faded away. The information your website gives me is extremely precious to me. Now, my belief comes back and I eventually work out what I have to do for my future.” View Question #3 here. […]
